NOTABLE PLAYER(S)

 Eric Prex: (Class of 1990) An All-Section, All-WPIAL, All-State and Post-Gazette Elite 11 player while at Chartiers Valley. Prex’s scored 36 goals during his senior campaign which was a single-season program record at the time. Attended the University of Pittsburgh where he is tied for the program's all-time leading point scorer. Played professional indoor soccer for Pittsburgh Stingers and Detroit Neon. His coaching experience includes roles with SCS United, Stars United, SVSA and Beadling SC.

Derek Mackenzie: (Class of 2000) A Beadling product and All-section, All-WPIAL, All-State, Regional All-American, All-American and Post-Gazette Elite 11 selection with CV while leading the program to its first playoff game since 1990. Played at Duquesne University where he was A-10 Pre-season All-Conference (2003), A-10 All-Championship Team (2002), A-10 All-Rookie Team (2001), A-10 Pre-Season All-Rookie Team (2001), two-year letterman and starter and finished his career second all-time in career assists with 15.

Chartiers Valley 7th grader selected for international tour By:  Greg Macafee Thursday, February 27, 2020 Oakdale resident John Krug was selected to play for the US Club Soccer 2020 id2 National Selection boys team. Suzanne and Brian Krug remember when their son John was just a young boy. They would take him to his older brother’s soccer game and while Joseph was playing on the field, John would play in the sand or occupy his attention in other ways — anything that wasn’t soccer. “John just didn’t have any interest,” Suzanne said. “He would be playing in the sand box area the entire time. Then, one day when he was old enough, all of a sudden he said he wanted to play.” Now, as a 13-year-old seventh-grader at Chartiers Valley, that same kid has received an opportunity to travel to England to play the sport he once didn’t want anything to do with. WPIAL inducts several local stars into Hall of Fame Chartiers Valley's Anderson gets call When George Anderson signed on as a member of the WPIAL’s soccer committee in 1967, the sport wasn’t that popular. In fact, there were only eight sanctioned teams in the entire district. At that time, the WPIAL champion was determined by season record and there were no playoffs. “Soccer didn’t catch on because it didn’t have professional teams here until the Pittsburgh Spirit,” Anderson said, “and also it had to share the field with football and everybody knows that football has always been king in this area.” Despite those obstacles, Anderson worked together with then WPIAL executive director Charles “Ace” Heberling to initiate a playoff system and entice more member schools to begin programs.
