Bob Kohlymer:(Class of 1969) Beadling SC Hall of Fame inductee for his excellent play as one of the best marking backs in the Keystone League. Played collegiate soccer at the University of Pittsburgh. Played professionally with fellow Chartiers Valley soccer standouts Denny (brother) and Sam Viecelli.

Denny Kohlmyer: (Class of 1969) Kohlmyer was born in Bridgeville, Pa called “one of Allegheny County’s recruiting Hotbeds” by a 1981 Post-Gazette article about the former standout. Kohlmyer earned All-WPIAL recognition for his play at Chartiers Valley. Kohlmyer played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh where he was a 4-year letter winner and was All-Pennsylvania-Delaware-New Jersey twice. Denny played professionally in 1975 for the Pittsburgh Miners and is also a member of the Beadling SC Hall of Fame. Denny was a coach at Robert Morris University for four years, with the Professional team The Pittsburgh Stingers for two years and was a high school coach for 20 years. With Beadling SC, Denny has coached 3 Pa West teams to National Championships and is the current club President.  In addition, Denny was the Director of Youth development with the Pittsburgh Spirit from 1981-1986.  He is a USSF ’A’ Licensed Coach and has referred for over 30 years.

Sam Viecelli: (Class of 1969) A Scott Township product and All-WPIAL selection while at Chartiers Valley. Viecelli was a gifted forward with great speed, a tremendous shot and great work ethic. For his efforts he was inducted into the Beadling SC Hall of Fame. IN college, he played at West Virginia University where he led the team in assists twice and points once. He was West Virginia’s #3 scorer prior to his graduation in 1973. Viecelli then played professionally and was the leading scorer for the American Soccer League’s Pittsburgh Miners in the lone season of the club's existence. Suzanne and Brian Krug remember when their son John was just a young boy. They would take him to his older brother’s soccer game and while Joseph was playing on the field, John would play in the sand or occupy his attention in other ways — anything that wasn’t soccer. “John just didn’t have any interest,” Suzanne said. “He would be playing in the sand box area the entire time. Then, one day when he was old enough, all of a sudden he said he wanted to play.” Now, as a 13-year-old seventh-grader at Chartiers Valley, that same kid has received an opportunity to travel to England to play the sport he once didn’t want anything to do with. WPIAL inducts several local stars into Hall of Fame Chartiers Valley's Anderson gets call When George Anderson signed on as a member of the WPIAL’s soccer committee in 1967, the sport wasn’t that popular. In fact, there were only eight sanctioned teams in the entire district. At that time, the WPIAL champion was determined by season record and there were no playoffs. “Soccer didn’t catch on because it didn’t have professional teams here until the Pittsburgh Spirit,” Anderson said, “and also it had to share the field with football and everybody knows that football has always been king in this area.” Despite those obstacles, Anderson worked together with then WPIAL executive director Charles “Ace” Heberling to initiate a playoff system and entice more member schools to begin programs.
